ディズニーランドに新しいテーマパーク！？ Disneyland will build a new theme park in Tokyo.

ニュースサイトのnerdist.com によると、ディズニーランドに新しいテーマパークができるとのことです。
ディズニーランドは1983年にオープンしました（僕もこの年に訪れました）。以降、異常なほどまでに人気が高まり、2001年にディズニーシーをオープン。
今となっては、ディズニーランドもディズニーシーも連日多くの人で溢れかえっています。また、大阪のユニバーサルスタジオジャパンも同様です。そしてディズニーランドはその敷地を再び拡張することを決定したとのこと。ランド、シーに続く3つ目の施設で、そのテーマは日本の文化らしいですね。ディズニーファンには良い知らせでしょう。 
 また、僕は今日、東京のディズニーランドとディズニーシーがアメリカのディズニーランドによって経営されていないと言うことを初めて知りました。オリエンタルランドと言う会社が運営しているのですね。しかし、アメリカのディズニーはコントロールするのでしょう。



News from nerdist.com that Disneyland is building a new theme park in Tokyo.

Disneyland opened first in 1983 (and I was there) in Tokyo. After it became stupidly popular, they went on to open DisneySea in 2001. 
Now that both are packed full of people every day of the year, and the folk at Disney see how popular Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is, Disneyland has decided to move on its third theme park in Japan.
It will be in Tokyo, and the theme of the park will be the culture of Japan.
Good news for you Disney fans.

Also, I learned today that the Disneyland company doesn't actually own Disneyland or DisneySea. They are owned by a company called Oriental Land Company, but Disney has full creative control over the parks.

外国の人が知っている日本語について調べるという面白いリサーチが行われました。その結果、４９個の日本語があげられました。どのようにこのリストが作られたのかわかりませんし、whatjapanthinks.comもなんとなく紹介しているだけなのでしょうが、面白い結果ではないでしょうか。いくつわかりますか！？

This surprising survey on what Japanese words foreigners abroad understand has listed the top 49 Japanese words that foreigners overseas understand. I'm not sure how the list was made, and the website whatjapanthinks.com is a bit unsure too, but it's an interesting list all the same. Any surprises for you there? How many do you know?

大阪が面白いかもしれない。Perhaps Osaka is interesting after all.

Osaka has always played second fiddle to Kyoto. Kyoto has the Golden Temple, Kiomizudera, Gion and all the famous stuff. Osaka doesn't. If you asked me ten years ago what I thought of Osaka, I would have said grey. But I didn't know anything.

I still don't know anymore first hand, as the only experience I've had of Osaka since I visited in 1983 was an hour in the train station.

Osaka does in fact, have a great deal to offer. Especially if you like a decent nosh (and you're not gluten intolerant). Osaka is famous for its okonomiyaki, takoyaki, and lots of other things, usually using flour.

Ingrid Williams of the (not failing) New York Times gives you a rundown of how to fill 36 hours in Japan's second biggest city. (They say Yokohama is, but seriously, Tokyo and Yokohama have fused, and are one.)  

She had me at Michelin star yakitori. Love yakitori. 

She had a great weekend with late night drinks, early fun times, coffee,  souvenir shopping, and generally immersing herself in the culture.
I wanna go.
